When Diagnosing Your Plumbing System,
What Does a Licensed Plumber Check?
Did Somebody Leave the Water On?
Many homeowners wonder about what a professional, licensed plumber should check when looking for water leaks or problems with clogged drains.
Most plumbers will vary slightly in their approach, but when troubleshooting or diagnosing a plumbing issue there are certain standards that every licensed plumber will follow to ensure that all the parts of the plumbing system are working properly. A licensed plumber is trained and experienced. They have seen similar problems many times and know exactly what they are looking for.
Unfortunately, there’s never a good time for a plumbing problem to happen. We understand that completely and we will try to alleviate any surprises by finding the problem(s) quickly.
Clogged Drains
When it comes clogged drains, we will first try to isolate the problem to a specific area or portion of the sanitary drain system. Then we will normally use a tiny camera on the end of flexible line. When we use that camera, the homeowner can even watch with us on the video screen. If we able to then locate the issue, we can find out exactly where it is.
It doesn’t matter much if it’s in main line in the yard or somewhere under the house, the clogged drain line must be opened and cleaned out. Our training and experience allow a plumber to find, diagnose and eliminate or repair the problem faster than many other plumbing contractors.
Faucets, Water Lines and Leaks
One of the first things that the plumber should do is to check whether all the faucets are operational. This involves checking whether they are turning on and off with ease so as to maintain the right water temperature. We will also check underneath each faucet to make sure all the water lines are connected properly, that’s there no sign of corrosion on any of the water lines, or any of the drain lines.
Many times people have things underneath the sink, especially in the bathrooms or the kitchen. It’s seems to be a great place to get things that you don’t need every day. You might have a small drip coming from a water line that you don’t even know is a problem. One day you go to clean something out or you grab something in the back and it’s wet and slimy. By that time it’s too late. You’ve probably already ruined some cabinets.
Only a Licensed Plumber
A licensed plumber will also have the right tools for the job with them. They do this type of work all the time, and unless something major breaks, then they will normally have the parts needed to complete the repairs too.
