The Importance of Plumbing Design to a Bathroom Renovation

  • October 20, 2014
  • Bathrooms

plumbing repair services Undertaking a bathroom renovation can actually be one of the most exciting things you ever do inside your home, especially with a master bathroom renovation. The bathroom is such a private place and many people strive to have exactly the look, style, amenities, and comforts that speak to their individual tastes. However, one thing which may get overlooked when you are creating a bathroom remodel is the plumbing design, or layout. Here are some reasons why plumbing design should be at the top of the list for your bathroom renovation.

Function

You may want to have your sink overlooking the mountainside and your shower falling from the east. However the layout of your existing pipes may make this bathroom design excessively costly if not impossible from the get-go. You may yearn for your bathroom to “look” a certain way or have certain special features, but at the end of the day you are really limited by what you already have and what you can afford to change. Don’t blow your whole budget on moving your entire water line across the room just to prove a point. Use what you have in a careful, thoughtful way so that you  can get the best of both worlds from your bathroom renovation.

Design

One more thought to consider when you are imagining the perfect bathroom is the design layout. Does the physical space of your bathroom have the room to include all of the things on your wish list? Do you want to sacrifice space and ease of moving around simply to have that double vanity? What is the point of multiple sinks if only one person at  a time can fit inside the space? You need to go over these bathroom renovation questions carefully and you need to separate your ideal from what is possible.

Storage

Another thing many people don’t consider when they are imagining their ideal bathroom renovation is the storage. You might like to have all of your makeup, haircare products, and accessories at the ready, but you need to have ample space for everyone that will be using that particular bathroom. Unless you have usable space elsewhere nearby, you also need to consider storage for functional things like cleaning products, toilet paper, and extra toiletries. It can be a pain when you step in the shower only to realize that all of your soap is in a different room or downstairs. Make sure you have the ability to store necessary items close at hand.

A bathroom renovation can be a fun thing to do, but it’s always a smart idea to consult with a licensed plumber over your plumbing design before you get started. Especially if your new design involves moving or relocating plumbing, a plumber can help you choose the best layout to fit your space, desires, and budget.
